On Saturday, March 9, 2013, leaders from the Pilot School movement gathered at the Doubletree Hotel in San Pedro in order to learn from one another and share best practices to ensure that students gradauting from our LAUSD Pilot Schools are college ready and career prepared! The day began wiht an inspirational welcome from Board President Monica Garcia who reaffrmed her belief in and support of the Pilot School movement. Next, participants were greeted by Intensive Support and Innovation Center (ISIC) Superintendent, Dr. Tommy Chang, who encouraged all to continue thinking outrside the box and innovate for student success. For the rest of the morning, participants were able to learn from each other as Pilot School leaders and students held 45 minute sessions. The conference ended wiht a lunch and a chance for participants to share ideas regarding support needed from the district level. The conference was generously supported by California State University, Dominguez Hills and the Charter & Autonomous School Leadership Academy (CASLA) program.
